Spirit Master-Pet build Empty
PostSubject: Spirit Master-Pet build   Spirit Master-Pet build I_icon_minitimeWed Jun 30, 2010 12:57 pm

So my SM is lvl 39 and I can not wait to hit 40 because i'll be getting my earth spirit ( which is the main pet i use) now with 1.9 i was really excited to hear that our pets now get added bonus' from our manastones. recently however i've found out that they get 20% of total mana stones and 20% of total gear and i've put this to the test and its accurate. the thing is i was planning on putting all crit's on my sm.. ya it wont help me at all.. but it will help my pet and thats what my build is for.. and thats how i play.. he tanks, i dps.. so i was thinking if he could crit like crzy.. ( much like a later lvl templar) then i'd be really good bc then i'd have a pet who not only can aggro but can take a punch and keep the aggro bc he'd be critting like crzy... so i've done the math.. and it looks like the earth pet starts with 50 crit.. and the wind pet starts with 80.. the thing is i see my earth pet land crits probly twice as often as my wind pet does.. so the numbers are a bit off.. even with the extra crit my wind pet gets from his buff i still dont see him critting..( which has frustrated me to no end) bc i'd use him more in pvp if he could knock concentration off.. but he doesnt.. so i dont use him.
anyways in order to get my earth pet to get up to 100crit or beyond i'd need to have all abyss armor for the extra 6 slots per item. so my real question is has anybody seen or heard of any sm building like this? i know a lot of forums talk about how they changed a pet build to just a regular sorcer build bc of the powers end game but nomatter what i want to keep a good pve build.. i build the sm for pve not pvp play.. I know this build is possible.. but i'm also in real life and not in dream world and i know it would take a lot of time and a lot of money to build such a build.. esp since our sm cloth armor doesnt come with extra crit chance... god i wish i did.. so that means ALL my mana stones have to go crit.. while i focus on hp/spell stat armor... i guess i just want peoples opinions on top of a fresh set of eyes on the situation...
Hit me up on here or in game.. my toons names are Wolftail and Dophesto

Although I do not play an SM, it seems that if you are going for a PVE build then you would more than likely want to consider what your role is in a group. Especially for end-game PVE. Your pet will not be tanking in end-game instances, except if you are desparate and need to OT with him. So aside from solo questing...wouldn't you be able to put out more DPS if you built your character to focus on your ability and not the pets? It would seem to me that the pet isn't a main source of DPS if built correctly but could amplify your overall DPS if used as an asset to your own abilities.
It seems that the general outlook about SM builds on Aionsource.com is that pet builds are no good at the moment. Check out this thread and maybe it will help, I don't know the SM skills so it may do you better to read it yourself Smile

Well the problem with what they are all saying ( for me) is that i'm not even lvl 40 yet.. and i'm still half way to it.. were i cant wait to get there for my earth pet, the moves that they are all talking about come at lvl 44 and higher... were they do touch up on how we are debuffers and great at it.. that much is true.. but prior to lvl 44 its our pets that do the direct damage output.. As of right now i(we) have 4 Dot's.. our summon energy's, sandblaster ll, erosion lll, and chain of earth lll, the ONLY direct damage moves we have we get yelled at for still using which are flame bolt, and blaze and ice chain and the other one.. forget what the name is.. but it causes knockback.. not sure why people give us crap about it since i'm still pulling off 700+ damage as a combo and thats not scaling with a crit or that much magic boost anymore bc i got rid of pretty much all of it.. all the other moves we have are either debuffs or self/pet care
so the only other thing other then those two chain moves that deal direct damage are our pets.. so you can see why i'd want to build a pet build.. where they are the main attacks and i focus on more of what my class is design to do and thats debuff and Dot.
also i'm not sure were they are pulling the mana out for being a non pet class bc i notice when i'm running my two chain skills and keeping the dot's on and using my pet skills and debuffing the enemy i'm running out of mana like nobodies business and i have 6,462 MP!
Also you said i'd have to think what my part is on a team.. i really dont play on teams.. so i'm mostly solo'ing.. which is why i rely on my pets so much.. and as far as pvp.. when i do get jumped from a rift group i can hold my own quite nicely.. and even in the abyss i've fought 3 people at once and have come out victories with using my skills correctly.. ( which is heart pounding but fun nontheless) and i love the direct damage.. if i can save myself from jumping around like a freaken monkey or running around in circles while my pet deals the last few hp's i'd much rather do that... then land a few more dots.. run around.. let my pet hit.. ( meanwhile bc i'm running around i cant cast anything but more dot's) so then i'm stuck debuffing the enemy speed so i can cast that last flame bolt and blaze or pressing that last pet move thats gonna cause 700+ damage.

At 31, I have never been criticized for using any of the pure damage spells or chain spells that cause knock-back. like. ever. In a group, after I place DoTs, I cast them, repeatedly.
Sandblaster, on the other hand....

In group PvE, I use the pet as another DoT and I use Water because he's ranged and won't get in the Tank's way, and I can make sure he's not pulling any aggro he's not supposed to. I've had too much confusion in groups with other pets.

Solo PvE I do use the pet as a tank of course, but in a group situation, you have a tank, so you don't need your pet for aggro unless you need him to pull a stray mob off your cleric while the tank is occupied.

I hadn't considered using crit stones to buff the pet, but that is an awesome idea. Definitely worth a try.
